The measles outbreak in Washington reminded us of the 2017 outbreak in Minnesota as well as successful global efforts to reduce the spread of measles. The American Red Cross and partners have made remarkable strides vaccinating children against measles part of the international Measles and Rubella Initiative. An infographic below highlights disease impacts as well as program achievements. Despite these and other efforts, hundreds of children die from measles every day. So, we must keep on. Why? Vaccination is the best protection. We encourage everyone to work together because a shared effort makes a difference and saves lives.
